The tasting event started with a belief in the human musical instinct.
『味見の会』は、「人間は周波数の変化に反応して、それに意味を感じる能力がある」と言う観点からプログラムの作成を始めています。それは「言葉』と「音楽」。
人が言葉を話すようになるのに、学校に行って勉強する事はありません。基本的に「コミュニティーに放り込まれる」だけなのです。京都に生まれれば、京都弁を話す両親、おじいちゃん、おばあちゃん、親戚、両親の友人、近所の人に囲まれ、ただ育つ。そうすると、いつの間にか京都弁を話すようになる。NYに生まれれば英語を。ブエノスアイレスに生まれればスペイン語を。
そして、1歳半を過ぎると自分は喋らなくても「お母さんに、これ持って行ってあげて」と言えば、意味がわかって持っていくようになる。「持っていって、これ。お母さんに」でも「あの人に持って行ってちょうだい。これ」でも。
5歳を過ぎれば、大人顔負けの事を言って周囲をビックリさせます。漢字も、ひらがなもカタカナも知らなくても。
「音楽」もそうなのです。お母さんが赤ちゃんに「おはよう!」と言うとニッコリ笑う。けど、どこかのおじさんが「おはよう!」と怒鳴れば泣く。これも周波数に意味を感じている、と僕は思います。人間は、音楽と一緒に生まれてくる、と言って良いのではないでしょうか?
だから「みんなで音楽を喋るコミュニティーを作ってみよう」と言う実験から始まりました。
現在、ジャズの本格的なスタンダードを、その日のうちに体験するプログラムに成長しました。16曲のスタンダードが弾けるようになるよう、資料も用意しました。
初心者でも参加できる簡単なゲームを、参加者全員で行うセッション形式のものです。

An important element of a tasting event is that there are people with a variety of musical levels and backgrounds.
1) The Bush Warbler Effect: If you place a young bush warbler near a bush warbler that is singing well, they will all start singing well.
The participation of an experienced guitarist has been a great help and role model in the beginning. Since we need role models for the piano, wind instruments, and violin, we now have a system in place to have various educational leaders participate.
2) Tasting sessions are beginner-friendly, and the first-time participants are babies. Will adults try to mount the babies? Will babies be considerate of adults and cry softly? Adults should simply try to play in a way that sets an example of adulthood. We want babies to cry loudly and laugh.
3) Do not discriminate based on frequency of participation or amount of practice.
Will we finally turn away our friends who have come from far away at the door?
Indeed, we often see participants starting to improvise more and more after the second performance.
But there’s a first time for everyone.
Some people have participated several times but still can't get the hang of it. Some high school students practice all night, while others are so busy with work that they can only practice the day before the tasting event. Some people participate every time, while others make it after a gap of several months.
But I believe that this is what "community" and society are.
In fact, I think that this is extremely necessary. Otherwise, it will just become a "training session" rather than a "tasting session."
I would like all participants to play to their best and set an example for others who have improved quickly, but I also hope that those who are playing for the first time will not be shy and will just take the time for themselves.
